Handmade Quality Craftsmanship in the heart of Yorkshire. Watkinson Cabinet makers are specialist cabinet makers who manufacture and handcraft high quality kitchens, bespoke freestanding and built in furniture, walk-in wardrobes, storage solutions, and bespoke staircases.
The company was established in 2006 by Ian Watkinson and is growing and going from strength to strength in a very competitive market.
As part of the business’s development we can now also fabricate Corian worktops. The Corian fabrication came off the back of our hand-built kitchens. Corian is a solid work surface and is the perfect choice for those looking for style and practicality its benefits include durability, ease of cleaning. Corian worktops excels where quartz, granite or marble worktops fall short making it the ideal material for kitchen surfaces. The skills involved in fabricating Corian shadow other skills we use so it has become another service we can offer our clients.
Our new ‘Plant a Tree Initiative’ is part of our environmental policy, for every project we complete we are planting a tree. The trees will be planted to create pockets of woodland in the area with native hardwoods. Each customer will in theory have their own tree. The aim is to grow lots of trees and create pockets of woodland. This is something we are particularly passionate about. We are aiming to be Carbon neutral by 2025, who knows we may even make it to carbon negative!
Oak is our favourite material with its nutty brown colour and beautiful grain qualities, we use kiln dried timbers for our furniture and air dried timber in our wine cellars.
Most of our work comes from North Yorkshire and particularly Thirsk and the surrounding areas such as the beautiful city of York and the spa town of Harrogate. However, our work has taken us as far as the Isle of Man, where we have built a couple of kitchens. We have an excellent customer base, who come back time and time again, which reflects a reputation that we are immensely proud of. We will work anywhere in the country or further afield.
Bespoke Design Service
After we have taken a full brief from you our work starts and we will create you a bespoke concept for your project. Starting with a design best suited to your needs. We will prepare drawings to visualise the concept we will show you samples of materials and finishing touches to support the design. Once complete will arrange a meeting where we will present our design concept to you. We talk through with you the materials, features, fittings and costs of the proposed project and of course we will work with you on the design if further amends need to be made until you are fully happy to sign off the concept.
Company Growth and Staff Training & Development
Director Ian aspires to grow the company and see continued success his main focus for the company is to offer exceptional standards of craftsmanship, alongside delivering excellent customer service and care. His passion for developing skills and his long term view for the future involves employing local highly skilled craftsmen as well as giving opportunities, training and nurturing apprentices to reach their full potential, so that these essential specialist cabinetry skills carry on into the future.

showroom
We are currently working on a showroom and looking to open it in 2021. All customers are welcome to visit the workshop where we have samples and there will always be a project on the go to view the quality of our workmanship. This also a chance to see where it all happens!
